Is white-border free?
Yes. The editor is free, there is no sign-up, and there is no paywall. You can add a border and export a JPEG without creating an account.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Photos are read with the browser File API and processed on a canvas in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and closing the tab removes the working copy.
Does adding a border remove EXIF?
Not in white-border. The original EXIF is written back into JPEG exports, including camera, lens, exposure, and capture date. PNG does not have a standard EXIF block, so choose JPEG if metadata matters.
Does it support HEIC from iPhone?
Yes. HEIC is decoded locally with libheif, then rendered and exported as JPEG. Large HEIC files can take a few seconds on older devices.
What white border width should I use?
Five percent of the short side is a good default. Use 3–5% for a subtle edge, 8–10% for a gallery mat, and 12%+ for a Polaroid-style card. See the width guide for format-specific numbers.
Can I add a camera brand border or timestamp?
Yes. Enable the camera brand border to use the make/model and exposure data from EXIF, or add a film-style date stamp. Both are placed on the white margin, not over the photo.
Can I batch process a set of photos?
Yes. Load multiple files, save one set of border settings, apply it to all, then export the set as JPEGs. Each file keeps its own EXIF.
Can I use the exported photos commercially?
Your photos remain yours. white-border does not claim rights over the image. Camera brand names are trademarks; use a typographic layout and do not imply endorsement.
